The Fly Phone

FlyIdea is an amazing phone that features an alluring interface. I simply love the dongle-earphone that performs a myriad of functions. The dongle essential functions as wireless earphone, and syncs with the phone to work as a camera, gaming sensor, music controller and video recorder. Both the earphone and phone work independently and together. The concept offers an innovative way of using the phone with the added functionality of the earphones dongle.

5 quick ways to earn your first dollar (or more) online

If you are new to Earning Money Online, you will find it hard to earn your first buck on the internet. But Don’t worry, it is not too difficult to achieve this (and i will show you that later in this post). I was in the same situation when I started my online journey. All it starts is with this – You most probably search for ‘Earn Money Online’ in google, then you are landed onto such sites that promise to pay unearthly cash for doing next to nothing (those are actually the scam sites that are made to trap your email address and then to flood your inbox with promotional stuffs.). After that, either you throw off your dream to Earn Money Online or you get determined to find a legitimate way to make money online.

Sticky Steamroller

If you guessed that this is the latest in heavy construction machinery, congratulations, you’re… WRONG! It’s not a steamroller at all! The latest from OTOTO, this deceiving design is actually a handy tape dispenser that will add a little character to your desktop. It makes tearing tape strips a cinch and, if you’re like me and constantly misplace your spare tape, the rear wheel opens to store extra rolls.

E Z Sling

Unlike the average arm sling, the Z-Cured sling was designed to lock in a variety of positions to enhance both comfort and functionality to cater to different types of arm injuries. Made of alloy steel aluminum and durable ABS plastic, the lightweight stabilizer can move with the arm while holding it in a fixed position, maximizing the arms usability while speeding up recovery time.

This cutting edge sports bike isn’t just HOT AS HELL aesthetically, it also uses cutting edge materials and technology to enhance safety and power. Hybrid technologies include specialized film and paint to harness solar energy and a kinetic energy recovery system as a secondary source of power. Coolest of all is a genius system of high-precision optic lenses and sensors that wirelessly connect to the rider’s HUD helmet to display everything from speed to object distance so the rider never has to look down.

Lumigon T2 Smartphone

I’m gonna go out on a limb and say Apple is still KING of hardware design when it comes to smartphones. Yes Samsung and HTC have beautiful phones but they lack precision and a refined elegance. The latest Nokias are stunning and in some cases, rival their fruity competitor in design. It seems the Scandinavians are the only ones that really know how to design a smartphone. Minimalism has pretty much become their domain and if the Nokias aren’t proof, check out the Lumigon T2.

Memory Compartments

It’s not very clear if the Uniting U disk can compartmentalize your files as per sharing and non-sharing files, but what it can do is increase the storage. In the era where we talk about terabytes, small USBs with GB storage may seem misplaced. However when it comes to the majority population, then simple GBs suffice. So for their sake and the sake of expansion without fuss, the Uniting is the way to go.

The Uniting U disk is a 2012 iF Design talents entry.

Flat Pack Mouse

I know the tech companies are doing their best to come out with a mouse that is sleek and compact enough to compliment a laptop. However I am sure most of you will agree with me that a full bodied mouse is what our hands crave, when we work one with a laptop. So to address the issue or portability and keep with the demand of a fully functional mouse, we have here the Flat CD Mouse Concept. When its flat-packed it fits into the CD ROM drive and when you fold it (origami style), it converts into a fully functional mouse. Love it and want it NOW!
The Flat CD Mouse is a 2012 iF Design Talents entry.

Solar Butterfly

The beautiful Light Bird looks enchanting in full bloom, absorbing the solar goodness from the sun. Storing the power for a rainy day – meaning times when there is an electric outage, the lamp blooms to full LED force giving you illumination during dark times. Love the way you can attach to any exterior wall surface and dot it along the walls. Energetic and alluring!

Mean, Clean Machine

Lightness and aerodynamic efficiency are refined to perfection in this single seater concept, the McLaren JetSet. Iconic McLaren styling in the front meets a futuristic backside fit with drag-reducing draped fenders and all. Because there’s no rear seat, the body can taper narrower and lower to further enhance aerodynamics, while ultralight carbon fiber composites in the chassis, body, suspension and wheels keep the 100%-electric car’s weight to a minimum.

Hypnotized by Light

Inspired by the symmetries of the dahlia blossom, the Hypnotic lamp not only provides an inviting glow, but its unique patterns also make it a captivating wall accessory. The geometry of the flower has been transformed into a hexagonal grid transferred on a plane, deforming the pattern to create a three dimensional impression that changes with the viewers perception.

Smart Pants Kanavos!

According to designer Alexandros Stasinopoulos, Kanavos is a study on smartphone design and it explores the visual interaction between hardware and software. It features a number of vertical and horizontal contrast color stripes and relies on the strong windows interface design. Basically the hardware, the OS and the interface blend and complete each other.

Kanavos removes the “windows” button from the front-lower-centre part of the device and places it to its left and right sides. This is to facilitate the easier access to this function while holding the device.

A Very James Bond Jacket

Have you ever ruined a movie, an interview, or maybe even a sexy date because you forgot to turn your phone off? If so, then you’ll appreciate this clever design called the Escape Jacket by Victor Johansson! The inner lining applies the interference principles of a Faradays cage to effectively block all radio frequencies, disabling the antenna so the phone doesn’t go off while simultaneously saving the battery. Just slide it in the inner pocket and fuggeddaboudit!

Up Close With The Ziiiro Master – Robert Dabi

Yes, everyone wants a Ziiiro Watch, but do you know what makes it tick? To know more about Dabi and where to get the mighty Ziiiro, hit the jump.

Hi Robert…how do we know you?
Hello Yanko Design. You first got in touch with me after I submitted a concept drawing of my first watch back in March 2010. It was the design of what we call ZIIIRO Gravity now, and it looked slightly different back then. To me, it was just a fun project and I wasn’t well versed with watches or any product design in general. It was just an idea that came into my mind, so I tried to visualize it.

Cleaning Up The Seas With Drones

The city of Mumbai is situated by the Arabian Sea with the Mithi River flowing through it, experienced the worst ever flooding all thanks to the a cloud burst and clogged drains. Plastic bags that we take for granted was one of the major reasons why the drains went redundant and of course the high tide and choked riverbed didn’t help matters. Since man can’t take the onus of disposing waste responsible, let the Marine Drone do it for us.

The drone is basically an oversized pool net with a sensor fitted machine. It nets drifting plastic trash in a very innovative way. Several drones scout the seas for waste and use a special sensor to keep away fish and other aquatic animals. It is equipped with an infrasound system and the high-powered batteries allow them to stay in the water for more than 2 weeks.

Print Picture Anywhere

The Rub View Camera is quite a clever concept. It builds up on where the Polaroid camera left off. Don’t be fooled by the slim design and packaging because beneath all that glitz is a camera capable of transferring images to a blank paper in a jiffy. The designer has not elaborated on it, but the little we know is that it works on the concept of transferring the image like how you would do screen printing on cloth. It certainly adds a kitsch element to taking pictures and sharing them.

BlackBerry Peer

The BlackBerry Peer is a phone intended for children. More like a lifestyle accessory, considering these young consumers are initiated to the gadget world from the word go. It features a smart camera and myPeer app that comes in handy when traveling and taking photos. It even doubles up as a GPS locator, allowing parents to keep a tab on their kids in crowded tourist spots. The Peer records videos, takes pictures and allows image editing in realtime using add-on effects. Basically, a communication device with loads of cool stuff that can be monitored by parents!

Printing Braille!

The SimCheong Printer & Scanner concept is inspired by a Korean story and the motive behind it is very simple; making computer peripherals more accessible to the visually challenged. Basically the printer is capable of printing and scanning documents in Braille. It looks easy to operate and when supporting technology is available, I am sure it will be a great help.

Designer: Kyung-ho Jang

BlackBerry Windows Phone Pro

We all know that BlackBerry needs to either hitch a ride with someone like Microsoft or come out with a smashing BB OS 10. If we take on the first scenario and pair BB with Microsoft, then RIM’s baby is a magnificent Windows Phone Pro, which has the possibility of including all things good from BB tools and MS Office apps. The potential of the BlackBerry Wind concept sounds too good, imagine the ultimate professional phone bearing the security and agility of BlackBerry along with the competence of MS Office.

As the designer explains, this combination will be more attractive for developers, increasing significantly the number application proposed on the now called Windows Phone Store. BlackBerry Wind signifies “Wind of change” and the new OS “WINDows” and exemplifies elegance and sobriety.
The chamfered corners (On the top and the bottom) give a swift recognition of the product, and the wide polycarbonate line on the back (Which comes on the front to highlight the speaker and create the Windows Phone OS key) increases the identity of the smartphone.
Designer: Valentin Gallard

One Pen, One Phone

ONE is a mobile phone fashioned as a pen. It hosts a flexible 6-inch display that relies on cloud computing for memory. The design basically satisfies the needs of consumers who are looking for a lighter phone without compromising on the size of the display screen or applications.

Designer: Yejin Jeon

Ultimate Action Cam

The E-Clips video camera expands on the capabilities of the compact handheld with an easy-to-use system of quick-release mounts. The snap-and-go design makes it possible to seamlessly transition between uses in seconds. Snap to a bike, attach to a helmet, or mount it on any other surface and control power and recording options wirelessly using the included digital wristband!
Designer: Christopher Terella

Smile Please!

There is a growing trend in concept cameras to include simple gestures to control its functions. We first saw this with the Air Clicker Camera and now it’s surfaced once again with the Take Frame. The idea here is to ‘crop’ the picture you want to click using the two crop tools, just like how you would use your thumb and forefinger. Interesting the way this industry is innovating.

The Rainbow View

Rainbow is a mini computer designed especially for the new age Smart TV and intelligent media entertainment systems at home. The design includes three options for display: LCD, Television or Projector. The device also houses a modem and WiFi Station for home network, facilitating easy Internet Access. The cool quotient is upped with the inclusion of an ambient lighting system, that peps up the whole deal!

iLove this Case

iLove this Case

This unique iPhone case is pure genius! The versatile IdoStand uses 2 seamlessly integrated arms that make it possible to prop your phone up in portrait or landscape modes at the perfect angle for recording video or Facetiming. Best of all, the design is no bigger than than other cases and, if nothing else, actually compliments the beauty of the iPhone itself!

Shave With Your Fingers

Shave With Your Fingers

The Embrace electric shaver is unlike any you’ve seen before. The ergonomic design positions itself in the users hand to create tactile feedback and enhanced pressure sensitivity, decreasing the overall negative impact repeated shaving has on the skin. An adjustable sensor also measures the smoothness of the area so the perfect shave is achieved each time.

Transfer Documents On The Go

Transfer Documents On The Go

U Transfer USB stick eliminates the need for using a computer as a medium to transfer information from one stick to another. It is equipped with a display that is hopefully a touchscreen, and has a slot at one end to hook up another stick. File transfers promise to be easy, and I can imagine myself using this stick at live blogging events.

Designer: Yiyan Cao

Inside-out Printer

Inside-out Printer

Thanks to concept design, our perception of a printer has stretched from a circular body to over-the-edge box. The idea is to break conventional norms and do something radically different yet respecting the boundaries of ‘form beyond function’. The Eclipse-dual Printer is a step in this direction and it aims at revealing the process of printing and scanning, rather than concealing it.

It’s an inside-out design that celebrates its mechanical components as functional aesthetics.
On the lines of Steve Jobs being manically obsessive of how the innards of any Apple product is designed. Although no one will see it except for the engineer, it should be exciting and beautifully laid out!
Designer: Han S. Hong

The Queen is Under Pressure!

The Queen is Under Pressure!

The Air Tube Earphones are fitted with a pressure sensor in the earbuds. This helps the earphones instinctively understand if the user is still wearing his earphones or has removed them. The logic is that if you have removed the earphones, it means you are no longer listening to your music player….as a result the earphones automatically power-off your music player till you pop in the earbuds once again.

This intuitive action not only saves your player’s power for you, it also makes it easy for you to manage the device incase you have slipped it into you pocket or bag.
Clever!

Gum Power

Gum Power

Poor Singapore, chewing gum is banned in that country so I suppose they may never get to experience the Chewing Gum Battery Concept! It is a simple and innovative idea where paper battery is kept charged at a solar empowered dispensing station, and can be easily used for gadgets whose battery dies out unexpectedly. I suppose it is intended for tourist places or maybe college campus, but it sure is a neat way to get instant power.

Designer: Ping-Yi Lin

The Daily News

The Daily News

With the advent of e-readers and tablets, the way we consume newspapers has changed drastically. To keep up with the trend is the Eco-newspaper, a projector device that projects the daily news to the table countertop while you flip through your favorite paper. The idea is not only to use technology to its best advantage, but also to cut down on the newspaper waste and conservation. Digital reading is here to stay, so I guess traditionalist will have to adopt it one day!
